The prompt of the project was to design branding items for an imaginary business. My business is a café that centers around comfort food, a cozy environment and most importantly curing homesickness. I named it “Oso” the Spanish word for bear, which is in reference to two things: The classic fairytale, Goldilocks and the three bears, and my family who have bit of an inside joke about bear hugs. Homesickness is something I struggled with a lot when first moving to college, my personal remedy was to cook/bake using the recipes my relatives passed down to me.

The project itself was fast paced, several rounds of sketches, digital compositions, and critiques usually within the same week, which lasted about a month from conception to final presentation. I took inspiration from the Goldilocks’ story, wanting to connect to the fairytales Just Right mindset, that everyone has their own idea of perfection. This project gave room for lots of personal freedom and creativity, from the imaginary business to which items would be necessary for it. Overall, Oso was a way to honor my family as well as to visualize my own personal slice of heaven.
